Rob Pomeroy   Rob Pomeroy, Chief Executive Officer
Rob co-founded Horizon in May 2003. Rob acts as the Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Technology Finance Management LLC with full responsibility for the strategy and execution of Horizon's business plan. Rob chairs the senior credit committee and the senior management committee. Prior to founding Horizon, Rob was President of GATX Ventures, Inc. (a subsidiary of GATX Corporation engaged in the venture lending business) from 2000 to 2003, with full profit and loss responsibility including managing a staff of 39 and chairing the investment committee with credit authority. GATX Ventures, Inc. had total assets of over $270 million. Before joining GATX Ventures in July 2000, Rob was Executive Vice President of Transamerica Business Credit (a subsidiary of Transamerica Corporation engaged in the venture lending business) and a co-founder of its Transamerica Technology Finance division. Rob was the general manager of Transamerica Technology Finance from 1996 to 2000, with full profit and loss responsibility, credit authority and responsibility for a staff of 50 and over $480 million in assets. Prior to co-founding Transamerica Technology Finance in September 1996, Rob served as Senior Vice President of Financing for Science International, Inc., a publicly traded venture financing and healthcare leasing company that was acquired by Finova Capital Corporation in August 1996, from 1989 to 1996. Rob was the second in command, and chaired the investment committee. Rob started his career with Crocker Bank in 1974 and has over 30 years of diversified lending and leasing experience. Rob earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

Jerry Michaud   Jerry Michaud, President and Chief Operating Officer
Jerry co-founded Horizon in May 2003. Jerry serves as the company's chief marketing strategy officer and is directly involved in previewing new investment opportunities originated by Horizon's marketing team as well as using his more than 20 years of venture lending experience to further cultivate relationships with the venture capital community and other direct origination sources. In addition, Jerry participates in the active management of Horizon's exiting portfolio and is a voting member of Horizon's senior credit committee and the senior management committee. Prior to founding Horizon, Jerry was Senior Vice President of GATX Ventures, Inc. and the senior business development executive for the company. Prior to joining GATX Ventures in July 2000, Jerry was Senior Vice President of Transamerica Business Credit and a co-founder of its Transamerica Technology Finance division. Jerry was the senior business development executive for Transamerica Technology Finance with oversight of more than $700 million in loans funded. Prior to co-founding Transamerica Technology Finance in September 1996, Jerry served as a Vice President of Financing for Science International, Inc. Prior to 1993, Jerry founded and served as President of Venture Leasing and Capital. Jerry attended Northeastern University, Rutgers University and the University of Phoenix, completed a formal commercial credit training program with Shawmut Bank and has taken executive courses at Harvard Business School.

Chris Mathieu   Chris Mathieu, Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Chris is an original member of the team that founded Horizon in May 2003. Chris is the senior finance and accounting officer for the company and is a member of the senior management committee. Chris has been involved in the accounting, finance and venture debt industries for more than 19 years. From July 2000 to May 2003, Chris was Vice President – Life Sciences of GATX Ventures, Inc. and the primary business development officer for the life science sector. From September 1996 to July 2000, Chris was Vice President – Life Sciences of Transamerica Business Credit's Technology Finance division where, in addition to co-developing and implementing the business plan used to form the division, he was the primary business development officer responsible for the life science sector and was directly responsible for more than $200 million in loan originations. Prior to joining Transamerica in September 1996, Chris was a Vice President at Financing for Science International, Inc. (FSI). Prior to joining FSI in March 1993, Chris was a manager with the financial services group of KPMG working with both public and private banks and commercial finance companies. Chris graduated with honors from Western New England College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in accounting and obtained certification as a Certified Public Accountant, chartered in the State of Connecticut.

Jay Bombara   Jay Bombara, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer
Jay has more than 17 years of experience providing legal services to financial institutions, including over 8 years representing venture debt lenders. Jay has served as Horizon's General Counsel since its formation and is responsible for all legal functions, including investments, capital raising and corporate governance. Jay also advises senior management regarding deal structures, market trends, risk management, and corporate compliance policies and is a member of the senior management committee. Prior to serving as General Counsel for Horizon Technology Finance, Jay served as in-house counsel for GATX Ventures where he directed the legal operations of the GATX Ventures' east coast office and represented GATX Corporation's other venture lending units in Canada and Europe. Prior to GATX, Jay was a partner at the business law firm of Pepe & Hazard, LLP where his responsibilities included complex commercial finance and asset-based transactions and mergers and acquisitions transactions for national and super-regional banks, national insurance companies and finance companies. Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University and a Juris Doctor degree from Cornell Law School.

Greg Clark   Greg Clark, Managing Director
Greg is responsible for business development in the east coast information technology market. Greg has been in the venture lending industry for 15 years. Most recently, Greg was a Vice President, at GATX Ventures, responsible for business development, with a focus on venture capital-backed technology companies. Prior to that, Greg made a successful transition from in-house counsel to business development at Transamerica Technology Finance where Greg was the sole in-house attorney during a period of rapid growth for the company and high transaction volume. Prior to that, Greg served in both legal and business roles for Connecticut Innovations, a state-sponsored venture capital organization. Greg began his professional career in private practice as an attorney at Shipman & Goodwin, a Connecticut law firm. Greg earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University, and both a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut.

Jim Parsons   Jim Parsons, Senior Vice President, Managing Director
Jim is responsible for business development in the west coast information technology market. Jim has over a 15 year track record of business development, financial structuring, and underwriting transactions for early stage and middle market companies. Prior to joining Horizon, Jim spent 13 years at GATX Capital Corporation including four years at GATX Ventures where he was responsible for originations. While at GATX, Jim structured more than $200 million in debt financings. Jim's other experience at GATX includes financial analysis and structuring of various asset-backed loans, leases, and joint venture investments. Jim started his career in 1987 at Peterson & Company Consulting, providing economic analysis services to resolve business disputes. Jim earned a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Kevin May   Kevin May, Managing Director
Kevin is responsible for business development in the West Coast life sciences market. Kevin has over 15 years experience in commercial finance, including the last five years in venture lending. Prior to joining Horizon, Kevin served as Director, Credit and Portfolio of Oxford Finance Corporation and as Vice President, Credit and Portfolio Management at GATX Ventures. In both positions Kevin was responsible for investment underwriting and portfolio management primarily in the life sciences market. Kevin's additional experience includes managing the western U.S. sales and marketing team at a division of Finova Capital Corporation and serving as Vice President, National Accounts at Deutsche Financial Services. Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Florida.

Kevin May   Kristen Kosofsky, Managing Director
Kristen is responsible for business development in the east coast life sciences market. Kristen has been active in the venture debt market since 1993 and has spent this time focused on structuring financial transactions exclusively for biotechnology, medical device and other healthcare related companies. Prior to joining Horizon, Kristen was Vice President at Comerica Bank, where she helped to lead the Life Sciences Practice for the Northeast US. Prior to that, Kristen was VP, Life Sciences, at GATX Ventures, responsible for east coast life sciences business development. Prior to that, Kristen was a VP, Life Sciences, at Transamerica Technology Finance responsible for east coast life sciences business development. Prior to that, Kristen played a role in the biotechnology effort at Financing for Science International. Kristen is affiliated with the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council's Special Finance Committee and The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) where she has played an advisory role.

Dan Devorsetz   Dan Devorsetz, Senior Vice President, Senior Credit Officer
Dan has direct responsibility over the underwriting and portfolio management for the company. Dan is a voting member of Horizon's senior credit committee and the senior management committee. Dan has more than 10 years of financial services and lending experience, including spending the past 5 years in the venture lending industry. Prior to joining Horizon, Dan was a Vice President in GE Capital's Life Science Finance Group, where he was primarily responsible for the underwriting and portfolio management of debt and equity investments to venture capital-backed life science companies. Prior to that, Dan was a Credit Manager at GATX Ventures, concentrating on the high tech and software industries. He was also a member of GATX's international credit committee. Dan's previous experience includes tenures in consumer finance at Citigroup and private placement investment banking at Advest, Inc. and Ironwood Capital. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from Clark University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Kevin is responsible for underwriting of our initial investments and the ongoing review of our portfolio accounts. Kevin has over 12 years of experience working with early stage, venture backed technology and life science companies. Prior to joining Horizon, Kevin was a Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Bridge Bank's Technology Banking and Capital Finance Divisions where he was responsible for new business generation as well as risk management activities within the Bank's asset-based lending sector. Prior to Bridge Bank, Kevin was a Vice President and Relationship Manager for Silicon Valley Bank in the Communication & Electronics Practice. Kevin is a graduate of the California State University at Hayward, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Lalitha has 4 years of experience in the financial services and investment industry. Prior to joining Horizon, Lalitha was Senior Analyst at Citigroup Insurance Investments where she was responsible for underwriting debt investments for Citigroup's private placement portfolio. Lalitha's previous experience includes practicing law in India and teaching. Lalitha earned an undergraduate degree in law with honors from National Law School of India University, her Master of Business Administration from the University of Connecticut, her Master of Laws from the University of Connecticut School of Law and is currently working towards attaining the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to joining Horizon, Dan worked at major public accounting firms including KPMG and Arthur Anderson and has gained extensive experience in financial reporting, forecasting & budgeting, lending and taxation. Dan was most recently a Senior Manager and was responsible for assisting clients achieve their financial goals. Dan graduated with honors from Bentley College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and obtained certification as a Certified Public Accountant, chartered in the State of Connecticut. Dan also earned his Masters of Science in Taxation from the University of Hartford.

Kathy Lang   Kathy Lang, Accounting Supervisor
Kathy has over 20 years of accounting and financial services experience, including spending the past 12 years in venture capital. Prior to joining Horizon, Kathy was Director of Financial Accounting at Connecticut Innovations, a State of Connecticut venture capital fund, where she was primarily responsible for the preparation of periodic reporting of the organization's financial position, planning, designing and implementing of accounting procedures and systems, and budget preparation and analysis. Kathy's previous experience includes tenures with Aetna Life and Casualty as an Accountant and Price Waterhouse as Staff Auditor. Kathy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and a special Baccalaureate, Accounting from Sacred Heart University.

Lucia is responsible for internal administration and assisting in-house counsel with all aspects of legal transactions, including direct contact with Horizon's customers and their counsel to ensure timely and efficient transaction closings. Prior to joining Horizon, Lucia worked as a legal and administrative assistant at a business law firm. Lucia previously worked with the current Horizon team at GATX Ventures for three years. Lucia has over 30 years of experience in legal and administrative functions, including as legal assistant in several regional and Connecticut-based law firms.
